Why the cheapest quote is usually not the cheapest rental
Comparison sites rank by base rate, and in El Salvador the base rate excludes the one thing you cannot decline: mandatory local liability insurance. It is added at pickup, and it can approach the size of the rate itself.
Add an airport surcharge, a per-day charge for a second driver, and a deposit of several hundred dollars blocked on your card, and the cheap booking has quietly become the expensive one.
